Career advisors at a leading group of colleges in Warwickshire and Worcestershire have been recognised for the quality of their support by a prestigious national award scheme
WCG’s Careers Team has been highly commended for The Award for FE Team of the Year in the Pearson National Teaching Awards 2023, which are organised by The Teaching Awards Trust.
The team provides free, confidential and impartial careers advice to students studying at the college group’s six colleges – including Royal Leamington Spa College, Rugby College, Warwick Trident College, Pershore College, Evesham College and Moreton Morrell College.
It is committed to ensuring that all students, prospective students and apprentices, acquire the skills, knowledge and attitudes to manage their learning and career progression.
This includes an emphasis on ensuring students make informed choices and decisions in response to a dynamic labour market, ensuring students have the aptitude and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and add value within the workplace, and promoting the equality of opportunity for all students.
The Pearson National Teaching Awards celebrate the impact of educators across the UK.
Alongside a certificate recognising their achievements, WCG’s careers team received a written letter from children’s author Michael Morpurgo, President of the Teaching Awards Trust.
Emma Williamson, Head of Careers and Information at WCG, said: “The careers team is proud to have received this commendation and we would like to thank The Teaching Awards Trust for considering us for this award.
“We recognise how vital it is that students have the tools and knowledge they need to succeed after they leave us here at WCG.
“Last year we were presented the national Quality in Careers Standard and this commendation is further recognition of the service we provide to our students.”
