A taste of the tourism, exhibition and conferencing industry across Coventry and Warwickshire has been given to leading travel experts.

Top venue and event organisers from across the country were invited to explore some of the leading hotels, tourist attractions, and conference and exhibition spaces in the region.

The two-day event was hosted by Shakespeare’s England, a non-for-profit Destination Management Organisation (DMO), which promotes tourism to South Warwickshire and the surrounding areas.

Guests were given a behind-the-scenes look at the Ricoh Arena, a team building session at Warwick Castle and an exclusive showcase of the new hotel at the Baraset Barn Restaurant, which is set to open in March this year.

The trip also included a table-top expo held at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s The Other Place, giving local businesses the chance to network and present their offerings to these industry professionals to draw more business to the area.

Helen Peters, chief executive for Shakespeare’s England, said: “It was a really beneficial experience to welcome these travel industry specialists to our region to see all of what we have to offer.

“The group were taken on an exclusive tour of the new Baraset Barn Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon which is set to open soon and will be an exciting addition to Stratford’s luxury hotel offerings with the impressive sixteen bedrooms it will offer alongside their popular restaurant.

“For each aspect of the visit, our members went above and beyond in promoting their offerings with Ricoh Arena even providing a backstage tour of the arena led by Wasps’ former captain, Chris Bell, followed by an exclusive polo game held at Dallas Burston Polo Club.

“The afternoon was concluded by showing some of the team building opportunities on offer in the region with the Medieval Knight School at Warwick Castle and a tour of their event spaces.

“Our members are always keen to be involved with welcoming guests and industry experts to experience their offerings and we are very grateful that so many members wanted to be involved in the two-day trip.

“We have a whole host of fantastic businesses in the Shakespeare’s England region that provide a range of services, so we wanted to make sure we showed some of them off.

“We were able to illustrate all that our members have to offer and promote the region as a place to visit for business meetings, team building days and also for tourists both internationally and domestically.”
