One of the most popular destinations in Coventry and Warwickshire is combining Sunday lunch with afternoon tea – and is bracing itself for high levels of demand!
The chef at Coombe Abbey Hotel has put a new twist on the famous Sunday roast with a new themed afternoon tea that is serving up some of the key ingredients of England’s favourite meal as individual hand-picked items.
The Sunday Lunch Themed Knights Afternoon Tea features everything from a duck fat ‘roast potato’ truffle through to a Yorkshire pudding stuffed with roasted beef and creamed horseradish.
The savoury menu also comes complete with a chicken and stuffing sandwich and pork crackling with an apple compote. There is also a delicious, home-made cauliflower cheese gratin and flat borettane sweet balsamic onions.
The 12th century hotel has also got a treat in store for those with a sweet tooth and a taste for the traditional as the afternoon tea concludes with a class sticky toffee pudding and a potted apple crumble.
Guests can choose from a pair of refreshing beverages, with prosecco and sparkling tea on the menu.
Places are available to book priced at £39 and Ron Terry, group operations director at No Ordinary Hospitality – which manages Coombe Abbey Hotel, says afternoon tea and Sunday lunch will never be the same again!
He said: “Our head chef is extremely creative and came up with the idea of combining two of our favourite meals – a Sunday lunch and an afternoon tea!
“The resulting menu is an absolute treat for our guests and we are bracing ourselves for demand. We’ve only just revealed the menu and there is already some really strong interest.
“Afternoon teas have proved to be exceptionally popular over recent years and our current menu is very much still available during the week before Sunday brings a new twist!”
