A Stratford hotel is celebrating the ‘paw-some’ pooches at Guide Dogs this Christmas by gifting them new leads and special treatments.
The Arden Hotel, on Waterside, has supported the Guide Dogs for the Blind since 2015 but this year is donating £15 for every bedroom booked at Christmas.
A single £15 donation will help buy a dog a new lead or important treatments such as an eye check, while the full sum raised could fund a Guide Dog partnership for several months.
General Manager Josefine Blomqvist said: “As a dog-friendly hotel, we are extremely proud to support such a wonderful charity and the life-changing work they do.
“These brilliant dogs give so much to the lives of people living with sight loss, providing them with the invaluable gift of mobility and freedom.
“This year we wanted to give back to them and we hope to raise hundreds of pounds to provide the dogs with a special Christmas gift of their own.”
The 45-bed boutique hotel, which is part of the Eden Hotel Collection, has already sponsored two Guide Dog puppies named Arden and Marley.
The duo are among the 1,500 puppies which are bred at the state-of-the-art National Centre, just outside of Leamington Spa, every year.
Liz Gilbert, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager for Guide Dogs in Warwickshire, said: “As a charity, we rely almost entirely on public donations to keep our vital services for people with sight loss running.
“We’re incredibly grateful to the Arden Hotel for their support over the years."
The hotel is also one of 24 local businesses dressing up their windows as part of RSC’s Stratford Christmas Window Trail.
Trail seekers will be able to visit each of the unique window displays and spot a hidden elephant inspired by the theatre’s winter production, The Magician’s Elephant.
The Arden Hotel’s window will also be dedicated to Guide Dogs, with guests and visitors encouraged to donate to the charity to support their work.
