A Coventry attraction dating back almost 2000 years is preparing to host a legion of visitors in a two-day festival inspired by real Roman history.
The Lunt Roman Festival on August 26 and 27 will give visitors of all ages the chance to explore the fascinating history of the Lunt Roman Fort while getting stuck in to hands-on battle drills and exploring a living history Roman village.
In addition to history reenactments from expert performers and Roman-inspired goods for sale, visitors will be able to explore all aspects of the unique reconstructed monument, taking in the sights of the ramparts, the granary building and the only known Gyrus – large circular structure suspected to be a cavalry training area – inside a Roman fort in the UK.
The event caps a series of summer activities at the fort, including arts & crafts and fun & games all inspired by Roman history – including bead necklace crafting and catapult making.
Refreshments will be available from local food vendors, with an early years takeover area to keep younger visitors entertained.
