A retiring director of a Warwickshire property company won’t be sailing away into the sunset just yet.
Des Wynne, who has worked at AC Lloyd for the last 15 years, was presented with a gift of sailing lessons at a special lunch at the House & Orangery in the Newbold Comyn Arms in Newbold Terrace East, Leamington.
Around 30 colleagues and shareholders of the long-established business attended the get-together.
Des worked at Land Securities Group, Severn Trent and Prologis UK before joining AC Lloyd in 2008 and his final position was Managing Director of AC Lloyd Strategic Land.
The 65-year-old, who enjoys sailing, will be staying with AC Lloyd as a non-executive director.
He said it had been rewarding to have been involved in both the commercial and residential side of the business.
“I started looking after the commercial portfolio, commercial and strategic land assets, and developed out a number of sites held at Tachbrook Park, and Trident Park, including the TATA HQ and MKM Building Supplies as well as acquiring new sites further afield for developments in Banbury and Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire.
“I moved into focusing on strategic land which has worked really well. I am staying on as a non-executive director and I’m intending to do charity-related work in a non-executive capacity to make use of my skills as a chartered surveyor over the last 40 years as well as enjoy more sailing and other sports pursuits.
“It has been a great 15 years and AC Lloyd has been a great company to work for which is thanks to everyone who works here. I have really enjoyed it and it is in great hands for the future.”
Peter Beddoes, Chairman of AC Lloyd, said Des has made a significant contribution to AC Lloyd.
“Des has been a central and pivotal member of the management team throughout his time at AC Lloyd and took on many of the roles previously fulfilled by our late chairman Gordon Nicholls,” he said.
“He has been instrumental in securing numerous prestigious developments and he has really helped to grow that side of the business which is very important now and to the future of the business.”
