A major fundraising event which has helped a charity raise more than £3 million to support vulnerable young children in Coventry and Warwickshire is set to return.
Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity will be hosting its Glitz & Glamour Ball at Coventry Building Society Arena on Friday, September 23 – with the event having raised £100,000 in 2021 and raising over £1 million since launching.
It is the first time the event has been held since Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity began operating as a standalone charity – having previously been associated with the NSPCC.
The money raised at the event will be invested directly back into therapeutic provision in Coventry and Warwickshire to support children who have been victims of abuse.
Since launching in 2005, the ball has raised more than £1 million and contributed to the £3 million total raised by the charity since 1996.
This year’s event, sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover and IT company Kagool, has already seen more than 400 seats sold.
The Glitz & Glamour Ball features entertainment, live music and a range of fundraising activities across the evening. These include a silent auction throughout the night and a diamond challenge, where three of the boxes bought will contain a message saying the recipient has won a diamond ring, necklace or earrings.
A live auction will also take place on the evening, with personally signed items of memorabilia and exciting experiences up for grabs.
Businesses across Coventry and Warwickshire are being encouraged to get involved and take part in the fundraising, which will help support the most vulnerable children and young people in the region that have been affected by abuse.
Hamilton Bland, trustee for Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity and organiser of the Glitz & Glamour Ball, said: “Our annual ball is one of the biggest regional fundraising events of the year and it has been an incredible success since its launch.
“In the midst of a global pandemic, we were still able to break our fundraising record last year and that is testament to the support we have in the room on the night.
“This will be the first time we are exclusively fundraising for Coventry and Warwickshire’s Children’s Charity. We are working closely with Coventry City Council and other partners to ensure the funding reaches the right people and can make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people in the region.
“We would like to thank Jaguar Land Rover for their continued support of the event and also thank Kagool for their support this year.
“The event wouldn’t be possible without the support of the business community in Coventry and Warwickshire and we hope they will come out in force to raise vital funds once again.”
Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, added: “We are proud to have hosted this event for the last 17 years and it’s always a fantastic evening.
“This is one of our longest running events and we look forward to continuing to support the Coventry and Warwickshire Children’s Charity for years to come.”
The Glitz & Glamour Ball will also include a champagne reception, three-course meal and dancing until late. Sponsorship packages for businesses are still available.
