A pair of Coventry’s most beloved historic venues are vying to be named among the top attractions in the country after making it to the regional finals of a popular lifestyle competition.
Coombe Abbey Hotel and St Mary’s Guildhall have been shortlisted for the West Midlands Muddy Stilettos Awards 2024 – with a public vote set to decide the winners.
Coombe Abbey Hotel, the 12th century former monastery renowned for its afternoon tea, medieval banquets and picturesque location is up for ‘Best Event Venue' and 'Best Hotel', while the recently restored St Mary’s Guildhall – a hidden gem in Coventry city centre – is in the running for ‘Best Family Attraction’, becoming a popular destination for history-inspired school holiday activities after reopening in 2022.
The finals will run until Thursday, April 18, with every regional winner automatically progressing to the ‘Winner of Winners’ National Muddy Awards.
It is now over to a public vote to determine the winners in each of the 21 categories – with five finalists up for each award. The regional final will be held at St Mary’s Guildhall.
Ron Terry, Group Operations Director at No Ordinary Hospitality, which operates both venues, said the competition was a great chance for residents and visitors to show their support for their favourite places to visit.
“Coventry and Warwickshire is blessed with some fantastic places to visit and things to do, and we are proud to have two of the very best in St Mary’s Guildhall and Coombe Abbey.
“We look forward to these awards every year. It always means a lot to see visitors and people in the community voting, as it shows they appreciate the effort our fantastic staff put into these venues day in day out to make them special places for all sorts of occasions.”
