Coventry’s creative hub is celebrating its fifth birthday and marking it with a massive weekend of events, competitions and special offers.
FarGo Village is celebrating five years of creative independent businesses at the venue from Friday (September 27) to Sunday (September 29) with a special party bringing together some of its most popular traders and events.
FarGo will be relaunching its new and improved performance and live event space, The Box, on Friday at 6.30pm, with the support of Coventry City Council and Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership and featuring live music from The Lloyd McGrath Collective who recently supported The Specials at Coventry Cathedral.
The venue has undergone a huge transformation over the last nine months and features a new bar, four changing rooms and a production office back stage, a full audio visual and lighting package and a unique first floor office space with ‘floating’ shipping container meeting rooms.
On Saturday and Sunday, the region’s top street food will be on offer with Digbeth Dining Club’s pop-up FarGo Dining Club in the Box and the ever-popular Autumn Makers Market will return to the creative quarter with the biggest market ever, bringing top local artists and creators to help the celebrations.
Visitors can get involved with the Mario Kart competition to win a voucher to spend on-site at Fantayzia Design, visit Print Manufactory for a drop-in screen-printing workshop or Let’s Animate for a drop-in animation workshop, alongside exclusive discounts on hundreds of records at Just Dropped In and up to 50% off at FarGo’s resident shops.
The celebrations will be topped off with live music from the Twisted Barrel stage on Saturday, and a bouncy castle and stunning classic cars on display on both days from Dub Club.
Other traders at FarGo will be launching special deals with Escape Live offering 20% off all escape rooms booked at the weekend and Gourmet Food Kitchen launching its new autumn menu at the weekend for visitors to try.
Elyse Cadden, Event Manager at FarGo Village, said: “For our birthday celebrations, we wanted to do something a little bit different and incorporate some of our most popular events including the Makers Market and Digbeth Dining Club at FarGo Village to create one big party!
“We are hoping to see plenty of people pop in over the weekend to join the fun, and it’s also a great opportunity for returning students & freshers alike to take a break from their studies, explore the creative quarter and celebrate with us.
“There’s so much planned with plenty of free activities and workshops available for children and adults, free food samples to try and discounts & competitions from our traders to help get everyone in the party spirit.
“We’re thrilled to be celebrating our fifth birthday in the UK’s next City of Culture and we’re looking forward to welcoming Coventry residents and new visitors along to help us celebrate.”
