Families across Coventry and Warwickshire are stepping inside the dreams of a machine this summer at the UK’s first permanent digital art gallery
The Reel Store, which opened in May within the former Coventry Evening Telegraph building, has already attracted thousands of visitors from across the country.
And, for the summer holidays, a series of family-friendly activities are available, with something for all ages.
Two magical exhibitions are currently running at The Reel Store - Machine Memoirs: Space, by internationally acclaimed artist Rekik Anadol, and The Tides Within Us by Marshmallow Laser Feast.
Machine Memoirs: Space is a product of a long-term collaboration between the artist, artificial intelligence, and NASA. The mesmerizing display transports visitors into a parallel universe of immersive colour, sound, and movement
It’s already proving to be a hit with people of all ages and, over the next few weeks at selected time slots, soft play areas and interactives will be available within the exhibition to make the experience even more memorable.
Kids lunch boxes, games and craft activities await within The Reel Store’s café for families who are looking for a tasty treat or refreshment. The destination is free for under-threes.
The Tides Within Us – is an interactive artwork, which investigates the flow of oxygen through the human body. The exhibition is included in admission and not-to-be missed.
Martin Sutherland, Chief Executive of The Reel Store, said: “Since opening in May, The Reel Store has proved to be popular with visitors of all ages, from very young children who are mesmerised by the colours, to those who want to snap amazing photos for their feed as well as gamers and visual arts enthusiasts.
“The Reel Store is putting Coventry on the map and showcasing an art you would typically see in major cities across the globe. This is an amazing opportunity for visitors to encounter something spectacular in Coventry, the heart of the UK.”
