A children’s nursery near Coventry is set to welcome a new family – and is holding a special day to introduce them to the community.
The Early Learning Camp at Exhall, which looks after children from six weeks to pre-school age, has introduced a new way of learning inspired by a family of bears.
The Browns are a family of brown bears which encourage children to engage with a range of vital development skills including artistic expression, physical development and communication.
They are the latest intake at the Early Learning Camp which already includes a woodland-themed pre-school.
Pre-school lessons are delivered by the school’s fully-qualified early years teacher and held within its recently constructed log cabin, just steps away from the Forest School designed to help children appreciate and experience nature whilst learning.
The Early Learning Camp is inviting young learners and parents to explore its brand-new pre-school and it’s forest school nursery on Saturday, July 17 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
The open day schedule will include a tour of the site and a lesson in the Forest School as well as face-painting, story time, a barbecue, a prize draw – and a chance to meet the Browns.
The family includes Abel the fun-loving baby bear and Rufus, the well-travelled grandpa bear, who can be spotted on newly created artwork within the pre-school, with the first letters of each member of the Brown family spelling out the word ‘prepare’.
Helen Slater, Director of the Early Learning Camp, said: “We are extremely proud of the way the Early Learning Camp has developed over the last couple of years and want to share that with families and children who I’m sure will be very impressed with the way we stand out from other nurseries and pre-schools.
“The early years in a child’s life are so precious and we believe they should be filled with the magic of nature, so being able to access a forest school area all day every day supports our ethos.
“The Brown family are going to be incredibly important for getting our message across to our children as, above all, we want to give them the best possible preparation for the challenges they will face in life.
“Our new log cabin pre-school ties in with our Curiosity Approach, which encourages children to utilise their creativity during playtime by using natural materials instead of plastic toys, and has shown to be very effective at stimulating our children’s imaginations.
“The pre-school is just the start of our plans to continue developing the Early Learning Camp, with a kitchen cabin that will also double up as a community space also in the works.
“We are committed to providing the best childcare provision possible, and part of that is ensuring that pick up and drop off times run safely and smoothly, and we are able to do that with our expansive car park and drop off facilities.
“Ensuring we have the best team members to support all aspects of our approach is also crucial, so we’d love to hear from anyone who shares our high childcare standards and a love of nature and the great outdoors”
