Emergency services leaders from across the country will be visiting Coventry in March to discover how the latest technologies can enhance public safety communications.
The British Association of Public Safety Communications (BAPCO) Annual Event will be returning to Coventry Building Society Arena on Wednesday, March 6 and Thursday, March 7.
It regularly attracts more than 2,000 people across the two days for discussions around best practice and cutting-edge technologies in the public safety communications sector, ultimately supporting the nation’s emergency services in saving lives and keeping people safe.
The event is one of the key events in the public safety calendar and continues to grow at Coventry Building Society Arena.
This year it will bring together more than 80 exhibitors and over 60 industry leading academics and influencers for its conference and seminar programme – which will be across three separate theatres.
BAPCO 2024 will feature end-user speakers from each of the country’s emergency services, from the coastguard and ambulance service, to the police and fire service.
There will also be speakers providing a global viewpoint on public communications, for example how technology can cause unintended emergency calls, how AI and chatbots can be used in critical services and why human decisions are still vital when preparing and executing emergency communications.
A wide range of new technologies will be showcased in the exhibition and hands-on demonstration space, including fully immersive virtual reality solutions for training and emergency situations.
The conference programme has been expanded with a new inclusive and informal conference stream named ‘The Huddle.’
It will cover subjects such as mental health, assessing what is best practice and how it compares between emergency services.
There will also be a theatre focusing on high level strategy and brainstorm discussions, including cross-agency collaboration, learnings from public safety agencies and experiences of end-users.
Day one will close with the BAPCO Annual Dinner 2024, with the guest speaker being Darren Edwards, a record-breaking British disabled adventurer and author.
Isobel Hayes, of BAPCO Event, said: “The technology available to the public safety communications sector improves year-on-year, with virtual reality and artificial intelligence key areas of interest over the last couple of years.
“With new technologies comes the need for people to fully understand their benefits, risks and how to harness their potential. Our annual event provides that opportunity and will attract thousands of people from all across the UK.
“The event has grown to be crucial to the success and development of the public safety communications sector, and provides attendees with high-level networking opportunities and the chance to see cutting-edge technology.”
Jenni Ford, Director of Sales and Marketing at Coventry Building Society Arena, added: “Our central location positions us perfectly to host national conferences and exhibitions of this scale. We are proud to continue to host the BAPCO Annual Event and to have supported its continued growth.”
