Coventry is the place to be this summer, with a whole host of events and venues encouraging people to explore what’s on offer in the city.

The Explore Coventry campaign has been brought together by a range of organisations in the city to showcase everything that is happening, offering something for everyone.

The campaign highlights ongoing exhibitions and attractions, such as the incredible Machine Memoirs at The Reel Store digital art gallery in the former Coventry Telegraph building, as well as the high-profile Grown Up in Britain exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum, which has received national acclaim.

For those who love live theatre and music, there will be plenty to feast your eyes and ears on as the Belgrade Theatre presents The Allesley Silas – a hit show from the Coventry 2021 programme – and Bond in Concert.

There are a range of shows at Assembly Festival Garden for all the family, while Coventry Cathedral is bringing a series of one-off outdoor theatre productions to the Cathedral Ruins including everything from Jane Eyre to David Walliams’ Awful Auntie.

To The Streets! is taking place at Warwick Arts Centre – an uplifting musical featuring ska, calypso, rock ‘n’ roll as well as street food and drinks, while FarGo Village is staging an Impromptu Shakespeare event.

For lovers of sport, there will be plenty of action in the city including Commonwealth Games events, such as judo, wrestling and rugby 7s, the International Children’s Games coming back to Coventry and SportsFest in Broadgate from July 26 to July 31. For those who prefer the water, the UK’s largest indoor waterpark – The Wave - offers an exhilarating way to spend a day.

Visitors to the city can also enjoy a Dinosaur Trail at West Orchards, a Summer Circus Party at the Albany Theatre and a Dog Festival at FarGo!

Throughout the summer, there is the opportunity to pay a visit to the new food and drink outlets at the War Memorial Park, take Afternoon Tea at Lady Herbert’s Garden and also take in the new look St Mary’s Guild Hall.

And the summer schedule will be brought to a thrilling end as the Godiva Festival takes place in the War Memorial Park from September 2-4.

Paul Jones, of Visit Coventry, said: “There is so much going on in the city this summer so we are encouraging everyone to come out and Explore Coventry and everything it has to offer.

“There is something for everyone – from sport to music and from theatre to exhibitions. There are even dogs and dinosaurs – although not in the same place!

“Being UK City of Culture helped to put Coventry on the map as place to visit and it’s vitally important that we all build on that legacy and make the most of the city’s incredible venues, attractions and event programmes.

“This summer campaign builds on our successful Winter Wishes campaign last Christmas that helped drive interest and footfall into the city and we are hopeful that this will be equally as successful.”
