Coventry IT firm makes special foodbank delivery

A Coventry IT firm made a special delivery to a charity to help ensure local people don’t go hungry this Christmas.

PS4B, based at Electric Wharf in the city, donated £500 worth of food and goods to the Halo Centre in Binley, which distributes food and vital goods to 15 foodbanks across the city.

The work of the team at the Halo Centre means around 500 families in Coventry are supported each week with food parcels when they fall onto hard times.

Richard, Kerry and George Hooper of PS4B dropped off a whole range of items – from pasta to tuna and from coffee to biscuits – to the centre after deciding to support the charity in the run up to the festive season.

The trio, who run the 18-year-old IT business, heard about the help the Halo Centre offers to local people and also about some of the work it does internationally.

Richard said: “It is humbling to see the work the team does to support so many individuals and families across Coventry.

“As a local business, we wanted to play our part and got in touch with the centre to see what they needed in the run up to Christmas and then went along to drop it all off.

“We don’t want to see anyone going hungry in our city so it’s vitally important that companies such as ours help out where we can.

“I hope others see how easy it is to support the Halo Centre and help them too, not just at Christmas but at all times of the year.”

Gemma Caffrey, partnership and events manager at the Halo Centre, said: “We’re extremely grateful for all the support we get from businesses and individuals who see the important work we are doing to help local people when they need it most.

“Due to the cost of living crisis, we’ve seen a big rise in demand for support from foodbanks but, also, a fall in the donations so every bit of help we receive is vitally important.

“Richard, Kerry, George and the whole team at PS4B have been a massive support with this very generous donation and it will help so many people have a more comfortable Christmas.”
