Ricoh Arena in Coventry will play host to many of snooker’s greatest stars later this year when the Cazoo World Grand Prix is staged at the venue for the first time.

The Cazoo World Grand Prix will be held in the 6,000 square metre indoor arena at Ricoh Arena, which will be known as the Coventry Building Society Arena from this summer.

The world ranking event will run from December 13 to 19 at the Coventry venue. It will feature the top 32 players on the 2021/22 one-year ranking list.

World number one Judd Trump won the title last year, beating Jack Lisowski in the final, coming through a field which also included the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, John Higgins and Neil Robertson.

It’s the first of three events in the 2021/22 Cazoo Series and will receive extensive live television coverage on ITV.

Tickets are now on sale with all details at www.wst.tv/tickets

There is a special half price offer for selected rounds for early bookings, so fans are urged to book fast while availability lasts.

A WST spokesman said: “We are thrilled to stage the Cazoo World Grand Prix at the outstanding Ricoh Arena for the first time. The venue has previously played host to the Champion of Champions event and we are excited to bring another of the biggest tournaments on our calendar to Coventry.

“The key element to the Cazoo World Grand Prix is that the field is the best 32 players of the season so far, so everyone in the line-up is at the top of their game. Every player on the tour starts the season on zero, and battles for every ranking point to earn a place in the extremely prestigious and lucrative Cazoo Series.

“They are events of the highest quality, as Judd Trump proved with his sensational brand of snooker at the Cazoo World Grand Prix last year.

“Any fans who love the exhilaration of live sport should secure their seats quickly as many of the sessions will sell out fast.”

Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Ricoh Arena, added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming snooker fans from across the country to Ricoh Arena in December.

“It is great that we are seeing live sport with spectators returning and we’re expecting a capacity crowd for this highly-prestigious tournament.

“The arena has a proud history of hosting national and world-leading sporting events and it will be fantastic to see the world’s best players take to the stage here in Coventry.”

WST has led the sporting world in the post-lockdown return of live audiences, and will continue to work closely with the UK Government and all of our venues and partners on Covid-19 regulation.

Fans can be assured that all necessary precautions will be taken at events to minimise the risk of virus transmission, keeping safety as our highest priority.
