A West Midlands college has joined forces with one the oldest theatre academies in the UK to help more students in the region gain vital industry experience thanks to a new qualification.
Coventry College has teamed up with the Midlands Academy of Dance & Drama (MADD) College to co-deliver a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Performing Arts & Dance with options to specialise in Musical Theatre or Dance, helping aspiring performers, dancers and choreographers take another step towards a dream role in the theatre and dance industry.
The year-long course will build on students’ BTEC studies to provide industry-led learning on professional-standard productions, with outreach programmes and classroom learning led by active performing arts professionals.
The college, which caps each class at 30 students to ensure a high level of individual support, regularly performs at national and international events, and hosts an annual showcase in Covent Garden, London.
The first HNC cohort, who will be able to study across both campuses in Coventry and Nottingham, will begin their studies in September 2023, with auditions now open.
