City Host volunteers led by local community organisation EnV (Events need Volunteers) celebrated another year of positive community impact with a social event at St Mary’s Guildhall with a festive sing-along and certificates presented by Coventry’s Lord Mayor.
Hundreds of City Host volunteers were recruited by EnV to support the City of Culture and continued to volunteer during the Commonwealth Games and International Children’s Games in Summer 2022 and are continuing to commit thousands of volunteer hours to welcome and support visitors, performers and participants.
EnV was a created as a Social Enterprise to continue the London2012 Ambassador volunteer legacy in Coventry, awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service in 2020 contributing over 40,000 volunteer hours.
In total from the beginning of City of Culture until today City Hosts have contributed over 60,000 volunteer hours. EnV Volunteers combine to have provided over 100,000 volunteer hours since 2012!
In 2024 EnV City Hosts have continued to provide ‘Greeter’ roles for city centre visitors, trained as Wellbeing and Digital Champions to support community workshops as well as supporting visitors and participants across a wide range of arts, culture and sport events including the Coventry Half Marathon, Heritage Open Days and Godiva Festival. The City Hosts can also be found welcoming supporters to Coventry City FC home games at the CBS Arena. In addition to adult volunteers EnV also continue to work with Primary Schools and Colleges in Coventry to train Coventry Young and Youth Ambassadors to inspire the next generation of local volunteers.
