Coventry City Council’s popular Go CV scheme is used by over 100,000 residents across the city. It gives access to discounts and offers when visiting local attractions, but since the launch of the Go CV mobile app in October 2022, savings can now be made when shopping at local businesses too.
The app was launched in partnership with bubltown, the technology company behind the design of the app, and it has seen over 20,000 downloads in its first year.
Councillor Kamran Caan, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport at Coventry City Council, and Councillor Jim O’Boyle Cabinet Member for Jobs, Regeneration and Climate Change, tell us about the Go CV scheme, the mobile app and how it benefits both businesses and residents in Coventry.
Councillor Kamran Caan has been working on Go CV since its creation and has pushed for its expansion over the years: “Initially, our ambition was to create a scheme to support our city’s local attractions and sport venues whilst offering exclusive discounts to residents in Coventry. To see Go CV grow from this initial concept and partner with local businesses has been fantastic.
“The best thing about Go CV is that anyone who lives in Coventry can join. Residents who meet certain criteria may also be eligible for Go CV+ which means they can access even greater discounts and offers.
“To have over 100,000 Coventry residents registered is incredible.” He added. “The introduction of working with businesses to give members even more discounts has significantly elevated the Go CV offer. Whilst the Go CV card and online portal give access to discounts and offers at local attractions, the mobile app allows members to access discounts and offers available at businesses across the city.
“Having these offers available to Coventry’s residents is extremely important. I would say it’s even more important than ever before due to the cost of living crisis.”
Councillor Jim O’Boyle, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Regeneration and Climate Change, has been involved in the project since the launch of the app last year:
“As a Council, we support Coventry’s businesses in a number of ways and working with them through the Go CV app not only benefits the businesses, but residents too. It’s a real win, win.
“The introduction of the app means it’s really easy for any local business, large or small, to profile what they do and provide a local offer. Plumbers, garages, cafes and independent retailers can all be found on the app - these are the types of places that we all visit regularly and they provide good services as well as jobs for local people.
“We know it’s tough for businesses right now. So, if you provide goods or services in the city it’s worth checking out the Go CV app. Joining is quick, easy and free.”
