Coventry businesses are being called upon to battle it out against each other as a sporting competition returns.

The call has gone out for companies to get involved in the beach volleyball tournament, that is set to take place in the city centre.

Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) is organising the contest, which is set to take place on Thursday, August 29, and it is hoped that firms across Coventry will sign up.

Lower Precinct will be the hosts of the tournament, which will be running between 4pm and 6pm on the day.

This is the third year in a row that Coventry BID has hosted a sporting event in the city centre during the summer.

Volleyball was played during the first year and saw twenty organisations taking part, a number which crew last year when more sports were introduced.

Now the BID team has decided to focus on volleyball again and the aim is to get businesses to come out and have a bit of fun. Teams should be made up of four people with a substitute coming along as well on the afternoon.

Trish Willetts, Coventry BID Director, hoped to see many businesses, both members of the BID and non-members, get involved.

“These events have become hugely popular with everyone who takes part and it’s about having fun and bringing everyone together,” said Trish.

“This is what Coventry BID is about, businesses and organisations coming together and showing that Coventry is a great place to work and visit and creating a fun environment and one that shows businesses want to be here and support it.

“So, we want to see as many teams as possible join in and everyone has plenty of time to brush up on their skills and enjoy the competition.”
