Hundreds of future car mechanics have spent more time under the bonnets of popular modern automobiles, thanks to the support of a major dealership group.

Listers Group, one of England’s largest privately owned motor groups, has donated used cars, including customer part-exchange vehicles, with various problems to give 300+ students car industry experience at three WCG colleges.

WCG runs Motor Vehicle qualifications at three of its colleges, including Evesham, Warwick Trident and Rugby College and students who successfully complete the course have the opportunity to secure future employment at one of the 50+ Listers Group dealerships across the country.

Warwick Trident College students have been tackling bodywork imperfections, diagnosing engine faults and correcting mechanical failures on diesel and petrol models. These include a Volkswagen Golf, Polo and Passat, a Honda Jazz and CR-V and Toyota Auris to cover a range of engines and drivetrains.  Listers have supplied these vehicles to two workshops at Evesham College and Rugby College.

Joshua Saul, Motor Vehicle Instructor and Technician at Warwick Trident College, said: “The cars that have been donated provides students with first-hand experience that professional technicians face every day and puts the students in a great position to secure a Vehicle Technician role at Listers Group. We now have 107 students working on live vehicles at Warwick Trident alone, and I can’t thank Listers enough for the constant support and interest they have placed in their development.”

Roy Stokes, Group Aftersales General Manager at Listers Group, said: “Here at Listers Group, we were delighted to support these local Colleges by donating these vehicles. The Motor Vehicle students at WCG Colleges will be the future technicians of the Motor trade. We look forward to meeting them in our workshops one day.”
