Helen Peters, Chief Executive of Shakespeare’s England, is encouraging people to get out and explore their local areas as destinations get set to reopen.

Attractions, hotels, restaurants and hospitality businesses across the region are reopening in July, with extensive social distancing measures to keep customers safe.

As the tourism and hospitality businesses across Coventry and Warwickshire reopen this month, businesses are implementing safety procedures to ensure they can safely reopen.

Helen Peters, Chief Executive of Shakespeare’s England, the Destination Management Organisation for South Warwickshire which works to promote the tourism businesses in the region, wants people to get out and support local attractions as they reopen.

She said: “Our Members have reacted very quickly in getting their businesses ready for reopening in July, with social distancing measures in place to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

“We are encouraging people to get out and explore their local areas, to support local businesses and ‘discover their doorsteps’ and the attractions, restaurants and businesses in their area that they might not have had the chance or opportunity to explore before.

“Now is the time for locals to start exploring Coventry and Warwickshire and it is wonderful to see so many of our Members reopening, ready to welcome back visitors.”

VisitEngland, in partnership with the national tourist organisations of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, has launched a UK-wide industry standard and consumer mark to provide a ‘ring of confidence’ for tourism as the sector works towards reopening.

Shakespeare’s England is encouraging all members to join in with the ‘We’re Good To Go’ industry standard and if they have the accreditation, make sure it’s displayed for the public to see.
