Warwick District Council (WDC) is the most populous of the 5 Shire Borough and District Councils that make up the County of Warwickshire, catering as it does for over 140,000 people living in the 4 towns of Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick, Kenilworth and Whitnash and the surrounding 20 villages and hamlets.
WDC provides the full range of District local government services (including housing as it still has its own housing stock), delivered a range of ways – directly, contracted out, in partnership and shared.
The Council has a simple vision - making Warwick District a Great Place to Live, Work and Visit.
To achieve that end the Council has a strategy called Fit for the Future which has the following strands each with an internal and external focus as set out below.
This Strategy has guided the Council over the last 9 years and has enabled it to maintain its services despite reductions in funding but has also geared up to deliver the significant housing and employment growth anticipated in the Local Plan for the period to 2029 whilst also helping to achieve the overall vision – the towns and villages of the District have appeared in the Sunday Times best places to live annual report on a regular basis.
