Rugby First is proud to be the Business Improvement District (BID) in the historic market town of Rugby. Since 2005 town centre businesses have voted to give Rugby First a mandate to provide a clean, safe and friendly town centre.
To fulfil these objectives, Rugby First runs a CCTV control room, employs a team of Rangers and street cleaners, as well as providing a vibrant calendar of events to attract visitors to the town.
Rugby First’s state of the art CCTV system and award-winning control room operate every day of the year. Equipped with high definition cameras, automatic number plate recognition software and a network of 500 radios to cover the town, these have proved invaluable in crime prevention and keeping the town centre safe for businesses and their customers.
The red-jacketed Rangers are a familiar sight in Rugby as they patrol the town centre. As well as providing support to businesses they also provide information to visitors, welcoming people to Rugby.
Events such as the annual Bikefest attracts over 40,000 people to the town centre and is just one example of how Rugby First is marketing the town to increase visitor footfall and spend by raising the profile of Rugby and its local businesses.
