Cooking up a storm in Coventry city centre

A new street food business is cooking up a storm to bring the taste of India to the heart of Coventry city centre.

Indian Street Food Corner has opened up in one of the kiosks in Bull Yard, in Coventry, after signing a lease through Holt Commercial.

It specialises in north and south Indian specialities, serving up dishes including dosa, pani puri and pav bhaji which are all made fresh to order each day, as well as a selection of drinks.

The business was founded by Martin Chathanattu, who is an engineer by trade but was inspired to launch the new venture by his passion for food and spotting a gap in the market for Indian street food in the city centre.

Open seven days a week, Martin hopes that the business will bring something new for food lovers to enjoy.

He said: “I love cooking and creating new and interesting dishes and have always dreamt of owning my own business.

“I didn’t think it was possible working full time, but I spotted the kiosk was available when walking past it one day and couldn’t pass up the opportunity.

“I have an experienced chef running the business day-to-day, and we have worked hard to create a unique menu featuring affordable, tasty dishes that many people may not be aware of.

“We are based in a fantastic position in the city centre and I really hope the business will bring something new and exciting to the city centre.

“I’d like to thank Ross Bendall from Holt Commercial for his exceptional support with signing the lease and launching the business.

“He has a strong understanding of Coventry real estate, was extremely proactive and mentored me throughout the process.”

Ross said: “We are delighted to have helped Martin launch Indian Street Food Corner.

“The kiosk is in a great location, close to one of the most popular attractions in the city centre and enjoys really strong passing footfall.

“This, combined with Martin’s delicious dishes, really do provide a recipe for success and we wish him all the best with his new venture.”
