An electrical contractors’ business is powering ahead to fulfil its seven-figure order book after moving to new premises in Rugby.
JRP Electrical Services Ltd, which was established in 2011, specialises in industrial, commercial and domestic electrical installations throughout the UK as well as offering a wide range of renewable energy services, including Solar PV and battery storage.
The 30-strong members of staff had outgrown its previous home in Earl Street and moved to Somers Road last year.
Managing Director James Parks contacted the Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub about business support, advice, guidance, and funding opportunities to help with the cost of the refurbishment.
Adam Plumb from the Growth Hub put the business in touch with Coventry City Council Business Development Advisor Kierandeep Bal, and JRP Electrical Services was successful in its application for a grant of £13,728 through the Coventry & Warwickshire Business Support Programme – which is part funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The grant has been used for painting and redecorating along with installing air conditioning, electrics, flooring, signage, and security.
James said its new home was now able to accommodate its growing staff and ensure they had comfortable surroundings to fulfil its £3 million order book.
He said: “It was an empty shell and a building site which was in need of a complete fit-out.
“Having invested in buying the premises, I contacted the Growth Hub about any possible grants to prevent putting any further pressure on our cash flow.
“The refurbishment has completely transformed our new home and we have already taken on two new staff and hope to add another seven later this year.
“We hope that by moving to a larger property we will be able to increase our turnover in the next few years with increased sales and employing a renewable energy designer to speed up designs and quotes which, if successful, will mean we can employ more electricians and apprentices and sub-contract local scaffolders and roofers.
“The support from the Growth Hub and Coventry City Council has been excellent and everything was explained every step of the way and without this support, it would have delayed the refurbishment.
“Our current order book is around £3 million and the additional space, equipment and staff will help the business to take the next step.”
Adam Plumb, Account Manager at the Coventry and Warwickshire Growth Hub, said JRP Electrical Services had invested £67,000 in the refurbishment and the result was a smart-looking new home.
He said: “JRP Electrical Services has grown over the years into a well-respected electrical contractor with clients all over the UK and is expanding year-on-year which is great news for the business as well as our local economy.
“We are here to support businesses in all sectors to access funding opportunities, and receiving the grant has helped James and his team to carry out the work quickly and continue with their growth.”
Kierandeep Bal, Business Development Advisor at Coventry City Council, added: “I’ve worked with James from JRP Electrical over the past five years and have watched the business go from strength to strength; I helped them move to their old Earl Street base so to see them outgrow that and move to larger premises in such a short space of time is a fantastic achievement. I wish them all the best in their new home.”
The Growth Hub is supported by funders including Coventry City Council, Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire’s District and Borough Councils.
