A national event which will support businesses and organisations to lead the way on the path to net zero is set to return to Coventry in June.

The Big Zero Show will take place at Coventry Building Society Arena for a second year on Tuesday, June 20 and organisers are expecting to attract more than double the number of attendees as businesses heighten their focus on sustainability initiatives.

It attracted around 700 delegates last year and 40 exhibitors, but this year more than 1,500 people are set to attend alongside 50 exhibitors.

Representatives from a wide range of major companies, public sector organisations and SMEs – with a major presence from businesses across the West Midlands - will have the opportunity to hear from leading experts and influencers in the energy and sustainability sector, with Juliet Davenport, President of the Energy Institute, already confirmed.

It will feature 40 sessions led by industry experts and 10 Big Zero lectures, covering key topics such as policy, technology, business strategy and finance.

The event is organised by future Net Zero, in partnership with Coventry City Council, and the organisers are planning to grow the one-day event to three days in the next five years.

The Big Zero Show is committed to making Coventry its home, with the city being praised as at the cutting-edge of net zero.

Sumit Bose, founder of future Net Zero, said: “There are many businesses making net zero plans but having the knowledge to make those plans a reality is vital. The aim of The Big Zero Show is to provide that information and encourage businesses and public sector bodies on the path to net zero.

“This is already the biggest net zero event of the year nationally and we’re expecting substantial year-on-year growth as more businesses place net zero at the forefront of their priorities.

“Coventry’s public sector organisations and businesses are at the forefront of technology as the UK aims to go net zero, so this is the perfect host city for us. That is proven with the plans for Very Light Rail, a battery gigafactory, the cutting-edge motor industry and research from two leading universities.

“I’d encourage businesses to join us on the day and gain valuable insight into how they can fight to cut emissions. We’re excited about the future potential of this event and its growth is evidence of how seriously businesses are taking cutting their carbon footprint and getting to net zero.”

Organisers future Net Zero runs a programme alongside the event to help businesses cut their carbon footprint and is already supporting 260 businesses with accounting, accreditation and advice through its Carbon AAA scheme.

The Big Zero Show will take advantage of the flexible facilities at Coventry Building Society Arena, including the main exhibition hall and the lecture theatre in its recently opened Commonwealth Convention Centre.

Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, said: “For all businesses the subject of carbon footprint reduction is vitally important and we are proud to be supporting the growth of The Big Zero Show at the venue.

“We will be in attendance ourselves to gain insights in how to reduce our own impact on the environment and would urge other businesses to join us to learn and understand more about how to make net zero a reality.”
