A leading Warwickshire venue is hoping to make it a quadruple success at a major national awards ceremony.
Coombe Abbey Hotel, an award-winning, four-star hotel managed by hospitality specialists No Ordinary Hospitality Management (NOHM), has been shortlisted for Best UK Unusual Venue at the M&IT Awards 2022 – a prize it has scooped three times in the past.
The national ceremony recognises the most impressive establishments and organisations within the events industry and this time Coombe is up against venues including Liverpool Cathedral, the Tower of London and Alton Towers.
It will learn if it has picked up the top prize at a ceremony in London on Friday, September 9 at Evolution London.
Ron Terry, group operations director for No Ordinary Hospitality Management, said: “The fact we have been nominated again in this category only goes to underline just what a unique offer we have at Coombe.
“Unique is an over-used word, but there is no doubt that Coombe Abbey fits that description perfectly, and is one of the reasons we are such a popular venue for local people, those travelling from across the UK and also international visitors.
“Quite often hotels are criticised for being too similar in design – that is not something that is ever levelled at us!
“But a venue is nothing without a strong team, and our staff have shown a total dedication to duty in what has been a very testing time for the industry. They have had to show great flexibility and have gone above and beyond to ensure that all guests have a memorable visit to Coombe.”
The 12th century former Cistercian Abbey has more than 100 bedrooms, and is well known for its conferencing and meeting facilities, as well as hosting live events throughout the year.
Within the adjoining Coombe Abbey Park, No Ordinary Hospitality Management run three hospitality outlets in the Visitor Centre – The Sundae Club dessert diner, The Abbey artisan market and Flowers at Coombe.
As well as Coombe Abbey, they operate a variety of both new and historic locations across Coventry and Warwickshire.
This includes the newly re-opened St Mary’s Guildhall and its ‘Tales of Tea’ restaurant, Historic Coventry Stays, Go Ape at Coombe and four outlets in Coventry’s War Memorial Park.
