Technology and other products which can help the warehouse and distribution industry tackle the skills shortage and improve productivity will be showcased when a major exhibition comes to Coventry.

IntralogisteX is set to attract more than 1,400 intralogistics professionals from across the country when it is held at Coventry Building Society Arena on Tuesday, March 29 and Wednesday, March 30.

It will be the seventh time the event has been held at the venue and it is set to fill the 6,000 square metre Exhibition Halls – with around 150 exhibitors expected to be in attendance.

The combination of the pandemic, Brexit and other pressures on the sector have led to a skills shortage in warehouses across the UK.

IntralogisteX is the country’s largest logistics and supply chain event and enables senior logistics professionals, warehouse managers, distribution heads, IT directors, and lead project managers to learn about forthcoming trends and developments, as well as witnessing demonstrations of innovative products.

It will see major local, regional and national employers head to the show to see how they can streamline processes in warehouses and make existing workforces more productive.

Stephen Brooks, MD of Akabo Media and organiser of IntralogisteX, said: “Challenges around skills and labour shortages mean that intralogistics professionals are constantly looking for new ways to maintain and improve productivity in warehouses.

“The warehouse and distribution industry is vital across the Midlands and accounts for a larger proportion of local employment than in many other parts of the country.

“Nationally, the vacancy rate for industrial property is at its lowest in 20 years and by association there is a massive demand for fitting out new space.

“The show is designed to help make the operations in these warehouses more productive, which will ultimately result in upskilling and developing established workforces.”

Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, added: “We developed a great partnership with IntralogisteX over their last six shows and have supported the organisers with its expansion.

“The show continues to increase in size and we have been able to support that growth. It’s a major national event which attracts visitors from across the country and we will be working with the organisers to deliver the best experience possible for delegates.”
