A sector-leading medical technology event which has seen huge success in Ireland is launching for the first time in the UK at Coventry Building Society Arena.

Medical Technology UK will take place on March 16 and 17 2022 and will look to build on the foundations set by its well-established sister event in Galway, Ireland.

The niche trade exhibition is focused on the medical device manufacturing industry, which in the UK is valued at over £25 billion.

The medical devices industry makes a significant contribution to the UK economy, directly employing around 50,000 people and supporting an additional 250,000 indirectly, according to the Association of British HealthTech Industries.

Medical Technology UK is set to attract more than 120 exhibitors who will be showcasing the latest innovations in design and manufacturing – with the world’s leading supply chain companies having a presence at the event.

The event aims to bring medical device manufacturers together with suppliers to the industry and as a result help innovative, ground-breaking technology reach medical professionals nationally and internationally.

Delegates will range from medical device manufacturers, major OEMS, and contract manufactures, to start-ups, SMEs and University spin-outs.

Industry leaders will also be speaking as part of a free learning programme, with the inaugural Women in MedTech forum also being launched at the event – highlighting the experiences of leading female engineers.

Colin Martin, Director at Medical Technology UK, said: “We have seen great success with our sister event in Ireland and we are confident that success will translate to the UK market, which is a global leader in the medical technology sector.

“There is no other event in the UK with the degree of focus that Medical Technology UK will have. Other, more general, design, engineering and manufacturing events exist, however none address the unique needs of the medical device design and manufacturing community with such clarity.

“We’re pleased to also be launching the Women in MedTech forum at the Show, which will be shining a light on the incredible, ground-breaking work female engineers are doing in the industry.”

Paul Michael, Commercial Director at Coventry Building Society Arena, added: “We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Medical Technology UK to launch this important new trade exhibition in the UK.”
