In the evening, ‘Poetry Slam in the City’ takes to the Piccolo stage with University of Warwick staff and student poets presenting their own work and a sneak preview from the BBC’s ‘Contains Strong Language’ poetry festival (which takes place later in the month). Alongside poetry performance, we’ll hear about the exciting work that staff at the University have been doing, asking questions such as ‘Can poetry empower and bring communities together?’ and ‘How does poetry come to the fore at important moments in history?’. This evening of words and voices in the setting of a Victorian sideshow-style theatre is not to be missed!
Everyone attending will receive a limited edition ‘Poetry Pocket’, produced by Theatre Absolute, full of goodies to encourage everyone to give poetry writing a go.
