Coventry City of Culture Trust has formed a new partnership with one of the city’s premiere sporting teams.
Ice hockey team Coventry Blaze has joined forces with the Trust to show their support for the exciting year of events, which starts in less than a month, and is a further example of the role sport plays in the cultural fabric of the city.
The partnership sees the Coventry UK City of Culture logo emblazoned on the jerseys of the players and on an ice-perimeter board during the Elite Series which is currently taking place in Nottingham. When the new 2021/22 season begins, the logo will also appear on the Skydome Arena ice in Coventry.
The Coventry City of Culture Trust team will also get the chance to let ice hockey fans know what is going on throughout the year and lend their support to one of the city’s top sporting teams.
Laura McMillan, Director of Audience Strategy at Coventry City of Culture Trust, said it was another example of getting the message out to the whole city and attracting a wide range of audiences.
Laura said: “Sport is a very important part of Coventry culture, so we are thrilled to be working with Coventry Blaze and to have formed this new partnership.
“There are so many fantastic sports teams across the city, many of whom have pledged their support to the Trust and the City of Culture year.
“Coventry Blaze have been a key fixture within the city for many years and have a very strong following from all over Cov.
“It is wonderful that so many teams across the city are supporting us and want to be part of this incredible time for the city.”
Rob Coleman, Operations Manager of the Coventry Blaze, said: “We are very proud to support the Coventry City of Culture Trust. It is a fantastic achievement for Coventry to have been named UK City of Culture and an honour for us to be a part of it. We are only too happy to help the team promote its programme of events and join them in celebrating what is set to be a great year for the city.”
