An animal lover who has dedicated her spare time to care for guide dogs in training has been rewarded with a special treat for all her hard work.
The Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon has made a special delivery to Caroline Cheshire for all her hard work to those in need.
For the past six years she has been working with Guide Dogs as a fosterer for dogs in training and fundraising by selling dog decorations at fairs.
The Warwick-based NHS worker’s dedication to the cause has not gone unnoticed at The Arden, which has also been a huge supporter of the charity over the years and has sponsored two puppies through their training to become working dogs.
In celebration of all of her work, staff decided to send her one of the hotel’s brand-new takeaway Afternoon Teas.
Caroline said: “I was incredibly touched to receive such a wonderful treat, the whole thing was beautifully presented and lovingly prepared.
“It has been a difficult year for many and I feel very lucky to have been chosen, the cakes literally were the icing on the cake.”
Josefine Blomqvist, General Manager of The Arden Hotel, was thrilled that they could make this special delivery to Caroline.
She said: “Caroline is such an inspiration and has been working with Guide Dogs for many years.
“Not only that, but during the first lockdown she responded to a Facebook post to shop for a 95-year-old gentleman which she did every week, resulting in them meeting each other when the restrictions were lifted.
“It’s these acts of kindness that meant we wanted to do something special for Caroline and give her a little treat as well.
“She really is wonderful and we thought the new afternoon tea was the perfect way to make sure she knows she and her work really is appreciated.”
The Arden’s takeaway afternoon tea needs to be ordered by 5pm for collection the next day. Collection is available between 11am and 4pm Wednesday to Sunday, starting on Wednesday, March 31.
They feature a delicious selection of sandwiches from coronation chicken on soft white bread to cheddar cheese with spiced tomato chutney on whole grain as well as chorizo sausage roll and smoked salmon quiche.
Added to that is a tasty mix of cakes including a layered Fosse Way honey cake, Yorkshire rhubarb and custard macaroon, chocolate and passionfruit choux bun and a lemon meringue tart.
To top it all off there is also freshly baked fruit and plain scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam. A vegetarian option of the afternoon tea is also available.
With Easter coming up a special menu has also been created and is on offer from Wednesday, March 31 and Monday, April 5.
The delectable special holiday menu includes coronation chicken on soft white bread, smoked salmon quiche, cheddar cheese with spiced tomato chutney on whole grain, carrot cake, millionaire’s chocolate tart and much more.
