As a charity using theatre to enrich communities and change lives for the better, against a backdrop of ongoing decreasing public subsidy, support from the local business community has never been more important. Did you know, local businesses account for approximately 20% of the Belgrade’s annual fundraised income – supporting community, educational and talent development work.
The Belgrade now earns a fantastic 75% of its income - up from 46% ten years ago – and showcases the incredible (and growing) support from our audiences, funders, members and donors. However, in order to extend the reach, breadth, impact and legacy of the Theatre’s work, business community support is vital.
With City of Culture 2021 around the corner the Belgrade Theatre is undergoing a £4.8m 2020 Redevelopment Project, in order to:
refresh the main auditorium and foyers to present a high quality experience to visitors (completed September 2019);
secure longer term sustainability through redeveloping the existing café and first floor Burbidge Room (April-Autumn 2020);
To date, our Play Your Part campaign has raised £410,000 of the £600,000 target with ten local Corporates supporting the Theatre by sponsoring a step on our new café staircase. There are limited opportunities left to do this, so please email corporates@belgrade.co.uk to discuss this further.
Alongside our Play Your Part campaign our yearly charitable activities continue to be supported by our group of local businesses, helping us sustainably provide free activities and opportunities to engage with theatre to local people.

13,471 children, young people and aged 50+ participated in life changing workshops last year, thanks to our kind donors (Annual Report 2018/19).
