We’re happy to report on the latest of our new Voice Squad choirs.
What’s lovely, and different, about this particular Voice Squad choir is that, unlike our workplace choirs, this one is actually taking place at home – the home of the residents of Austin Heath Retirement Village in Warwick.
The choir started just a few weeks ago but, with Armonico Consort’s Rosie Harris and David King at the helm, the new recruits are already getting to grips with ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Close to you’ and ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’.
Janine Devaney, Community Liaison Manager and Tracy-Ann Margarve, Assistant Village Manager felt setting up a community choir in their brand new premises would help bring staff and residents together to build relationships in a fun and creative way. The singers will also make a star appearance at the grand opening launch in June.
In fact, the village is so new that the Voice Squad is currently rehearsing in a vacant property. And, on that note, the dart board behind Rosie’s head is entirely incidental and forms no part in a regular Voice Squad session …!
