Coventry city centre’s ambitious regeneration plans have helped entice a brand new business to take up residence and open up shop.
Millington Travel has opened a new store in the city centre, which is its 12th across the region and its biggest in terms of size and scale.
The owners of the firm, which was established in 1972, Nigel Armitage and Nick Bland, believe that Coventry has huge potential with all the work that is taking place and the fact that it is UK City of Culture in 2021.
“We have been really impressed with Coventry’s ambitious plans to regenerate the city in view of them being the City of Culture in 2021 and believe that there is huge potential going forward,” said Nigel.
“Being a strong and successful independent travel company operating in the city, we are confident that we will also be a great asset to Coventry and are very much looking forward to being of service to the city.”
The new store, located on the corner of Market Way and Lower Precinct, will have a team of six travel professionals and offer a full range of travel and holiday services.
With its head office based in Leicester this will be the company’s twelfth travel store across the Midlands, with others based in Nuneaton, Loughborough and more.
Nigel added: “The new store has got a great position in the centre of town and will be offering a full travel service, from weekend breaks and family holidays to long-haul trips of a lifetime. A vast selection of cruising holidays will also be on offer.”
He added that the business also offers customers complete peace of mind, stressing that all holidays and travel services offered are completely 100 per cent financially protected.
Millington Travel recently won one of the UK’s most prestigious awards in the industry at Travel Weekly’s Agent Achievement Awards for best ‘small’ travel company in Central England.
Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) director, Trish Willetts, is thrilled with the new addition to the city centre.
“This just goes to show that all of the regeneration work that is being carried out and the fact that we are City of Culture 2021 is attracting attention and getting businesses to take notice of Coventry,” said Trish.
“With everyone working together for the better of the city, we are all putting it on the map for all the right reasons.
“This is just the beginning, we have so many more exciting plans for Coventry that will help to continue to drive it forward and make sure we are delivering for all of our visitors.
“I want to send the warmest welcome Millington Travel to the city centre and we wish the team every success for the future.”
