Mark Ryder

Strategic Director for Communities – Warwickshire County Council

Mark Ryder is Strategic Director for Communities at Warwickshire County Council, leading the ‘place’ agenda for Warwickshire.

The Communities Directorate brings together Education, Fire and Rescue as well as a range of front-line services including: Waste Management; Highways; Planning; Public and School Transport; Fleet Management and Civil Engineering Design Services; Trading Standards; Community Safety and Economic Development.

Originally from North Devon, Mark joined Warwickshire County Council in 2003 from Gloucestershire County Council, having previously worked for both Devon and Somerset.  With over thirty years’ local government experience and a professional background in consumer law, Mark has previously held a number of Assistant Director roles spanning regulatory services; transport; economy and regeneration.

Mark lives with his family, including two teenage sons, in Hatton, Warwickshire and, away from work, Mark cites running and following the fortunes of West Bromwich Albion as his main interests.
