The University of Warwick is one of the UK’s leading universities with an acknowledged reputation for excellence in research and teaching, for innovation, and for links with business and industry. Founded in 1965, Warwick now has in excess of 23,000 students and is ranked comfortably in the top 10 of all UK university league tables.
We offer a wide range of services to the business community in Coventry and Warwickshire and beyond, in sectors from manufacturing to healthcare, from governance to food security. These include research and development, consultancy, executive education, training and conference facilities. For example, the Warwick Business School has an international reputation as a leading provider of education and research in finance, management and business, and offers a wide range of courses from undergraduate to professional development to the acclaimed Warwick MBA. The Warwick Business School also undertakes research and consultancy work for organisations and businesses of all sizes across the public and private sector. Similarly WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) at the University of Warwick is an international role model for how universities and businesses can successfully work together in manufacturing, innovation and technology. In addition to partnerships with global companies such as Tata and Jaguar Land Rover, WMG has worked with over 4000 SMEs in the West Midlands region across areas including digital technologies, materials, manufacturing and business management.
The University is located on land which straddles the boundary between Coventry and Warwickshire and therefore plays a significant economic and cultural role in the region. For example the University is one of the largest employers in Coventry. Looking at cultural impact, the Warwick Arts Centre is located on campus and is one of the largest arts venues outside London, attracting around 250,000 visitors each year to over 2,000 individual events. In addition some 28,000 local schoolchildren participate in activities run by the Arts Centre Education Department annually. The campus also boasts world class sporting facilities which are open to the public, used by many local clubs, and were an official training venue during the 2012 Olympic Games.
More than 10,000 of our graduates live and work in the Coventry and Warwickshire region including 65% of the hundreds of teachers trained at Warwick every year, and 50% of the students trained in the medical school who now work in the local NHS.
However, Warwick is also a globally connected university with formal links in Venice, New York and at Monash University in Melbourne, to name but a few. There are over 6,000 international students at the University of Warwick, and over 164,000 alumni living across the world, all spreading the message about studying, living and working in Coventry and Warwickshire.
