Created on 1 April 1974, North Warwickshire is a Conservative led local government borough in Warwickshire. The main town is Atherstone where the offices of North Warwickshire Borough Council are based. Other significant places include Coleshill, Polesworth, Kingsbury and Hartshill.
It borders the Warwickshire district of Nuneaton and Bedworth to the east, the county of Leicestershire to the north-east, Staffordshire to the north-west, and the West Midlands to the south and south-west.
North Warwickshire is a mostly rural area which historically had a large coal mining industry. Home to three picturesque market towns and beautiful surrounding villages it also provides the business base for companies such as Aldi, MIRA, TNT, 3M and BMW helping it to become the second fastest growing economy in the Borough.
With restful rolling Countryside within easy reach of the NEC, Coventry, Birmingham and Leicester, North Warwickshire is truly a hidden gem. In recent years North Warwickshire has established itself a cycle friendly borough and played host to a stage of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour and welcoming the Men’s Tour and The Velo.
