Established in January 2020, Common Story is a multi-media independent production company based in Leamington Spa. Co-founders Beth Newell and Dom Sant are award-winning producers with a passion for storytelling, and their ambition is to work across different formats, genres and platforms, focusing on the most appropriate and powerful way to bring each individual story to life.
Key to this creative vision is forging links with the local and regional community: on the one hand, with the goal to provide meaningful opportunities to nurture and grow emerging and existing talent, and establish sustainable career pathways into the industry; on the other, to become a conduit for the region’s unheard voices and untold stories.
Common Story has faced-down the challenges of the pandemic and been able to build momentum through its first 2 years of operation, winning projects with the Open University and the University of Warwick, a KS3 Geography series for BBC Bitesize, and most recently, a broadcast commission from BBC Three alongside development funding to set up a radio production team to create content for BBC Asian Network. The company is also partnering closely with Create Central TV Bootcamps and the University of Warwick to offer work placements.
Common Story is excited to join the Coventry and Warwickshire Champions.
