The work of Coventry and Warwickshire’s aerospace firms has been recognised on the global stage.

The region collected the specialism award in aerospace from fDi magazine – a publication focusing around foreign direct investment – while at the global property investment show MIPIM.

Coventry City Council submitted the application on behalf of the Coventry & Warwickshire LEP area, which includes the Coventry & Warwickshire Aerospace Forum (CWAF), a group of companies that achieved record turnover of £65 million in 2016.

Peter Butlin, CWLEP board member and deputy leader of Warwickshire County Council, said: “To have our region recognised by such a well-respected business magazine is testament to the great work being carried out by manufacturing businesses right on our doorstep.

“The aerospace cluster in our region, which includes the SME cluster CWAF, is a great example of our high-tech businesses working together. Despite various challenges we have 12 very different businesses working together to offer larger aerospace companies a complete supply chain service, right here in Coventry and Warwickshire.

“To see the aerospace industry thriving is also great news for maintaining and developing more highly skilled jobs in the region.”
