Premium European coffee house Caffè Nero has opened its latest cafe at the Sports and Wellness Hub at the University of Warwick.

The new Caffè Nero will serve its full menu of espresso based speciality coffee, as well as its premium food range, including salads, Italian deli sandwiches and an extensive vegetarian and vegan range.

Customers will be able to take advantage of Caffé Nero’s loyalty scheme and rewarded with double stamps if they bring a reusable cup.

The cafe has been uniquely designed, with many of the features bespoke to the Sports and Wellness Hub, including a stunning outdoor terrace with woodland views and seating near the 25 metre swimming pool - making it the perfect place for people to meet and relax or unwind after using the Sports and Wellness Hub facilities.

It comes as part of a wider retail strategy to bring more high-street brands to the University of Warwick campus that will provide the local community and campus users with a more diverse range of food, drink and retail experiences.

Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport and Active Communities at the University of Warwick, said: “Caffé Nero is a high street name so to have them right at the heart of the Sports and Wellness Hub is a real coup for us.

“We want as many people as possible to be able to use the facilities and having a café for a facility of this stature is an important part in fulfilling this objective.

“Whether it is athletes or gym goers meeting up with friends, students studying over a quiet coffee or parents having a break while their children are in swimming lessons or using the climbing walls – this new café provides a space for everyone.

“It was important to us that we had a coffee chain that was passionate about providing a premium experience for customers during their visit to the Sports and Wellness Hub, and Caffé Nero ticked that key box.”

The University of Warwick’s Sports and Wellness Hub opened this April and is part of a £49 million project to create a world class sports facility in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Glyn House, UK Managing Director at Caffé Nero, said: “We’re delighted to be opening in the university’s Sports and Wellness Hub. Caffè Nero was founded on the principle of being a place in the community where people could come together in a welcoming friendly and accepting environment, and that’s exactly what the university was looking to create with us.

“The investment in the Sports and Wellness Hub matches our own desire to create a high-quality environment, and our passion for serving premium speciality coffee. We hope customers will love it.”
